Flood Best Practices

Flood Wiz accesses our proprietary national database to assign an address with the appropriate flood and census tract data. The majority of the time, the user will receive an automatic determination within seconds. The request could require further research if:

• the property is new construction or is located on a street that is newly developed
• the address is located near or within a Special Flood Hazard Area
• the Flood Insurance Rate Map for the community has been recently updated

Our Manual Mapping Department services all addresses that require additional research. Trained by a former FEMA mapping expert, the Mapping Analysts use various resources, including tax maps and geographic software, to aid them in their determination process. Final flood zone status is ultimately based on Flood Insurance Rate Maps.
